st. patrick's day recipes

here are my favorite things to make for st. patrick's day:

rumbledethumps: i love the name of this dish. i tried it for the first time last year, and it is now my favorite irish food...i think this is actually be scottish though. basically a casserole of cabbage, potatoes, and cheese. click here for the recipe from recipezaar.

frizzled cabbage: another great name. yes, rumbldethumps already has cabbage in it, but i don't care! this is too good. extremely easy too. click here for the recipe from recipezaar.

irish soda bread: traditionalists will tell you that if your irish soda bread has raisins or yeast in it, it isn't authentic. so, here is an authentic irish soda bread recipe (also from recipezaar). one of the best sandwiches ever is this bread, with a scoop of rumbledethumps, some frizzled cabbage, and hot mustard. mmm..i can't wait until monday!

end of the rainbow irish apple cake: i've actually never made this, but it sounds like it will be my new favorite dessert! click here for the recipe from henry's markets.

low-fat potato and leek soup: i haven't made this one yet either, but i had this in ireland and it was really good, so this recipe will probably be good too.

smokey cheddar and amber ale fondue: i don't have a fondue pot, but this will be the first thing i make when i get one. you can never go wrong with cheese and bread! click here for the recipe.

All of these recipes are AWESOME - especially when Leslie makes them. Today I was able to have Rumbledethumps, Frizzled Cabbage, Irish Soda Bread AND End of the Rainbow Irish Apple Cake. It was all amazing but my fav was the Rumbledethumps.
